Why
Ethiopia?
Ethiopia
is known as the land of “13 months of sunshine”
with the finest climate of Africa. With the incredibly varied
wildlife, flora and fauna, Ethiopia is fit for any kind
of vacation. Ethiopia is old beyond imagination. Its culture
and traditions date back more than 3000 years. However,
it is the people of Ethiopia who truly round out the character
of this intriguing land. The charm and the hospitality of
the Ethiopian people is most infectious. Ethiopia is a rich
cultural mosaic due to its eighty different languages and
dialects and its many cultural variations. Semitic languages
are spoken in the North and much of the center of the country,
including Tigre, Tigrinya, Guraginya and Ethiopia’s
official language, Amharic. All are derived from the ancient
Ge’ez, which today is used only in church liturgy
and literature. Ethiopia is the cradle of mankind. According
to scientists who found an ancient skeleton, which they
named Lucy, the earliest known hominids walked in Ethiopia
more than three million years ago.
